Getting here
How do I get to Český Krumlov from Prague?
The easiest way is a direct coach (RegioJet, FlixBus) from Prague. The journey takes about 3 hours and ends at Český Krumlov bus station (AN), a 5-minute walk from us. By train you change in České Budějovice, and the railway station is about 1.5 km from the hotel. By car it's roughly 170 km (about 2 hours) on the D3 motorway via České Budějovice.
How do I get to you from Prague Airport?
From Václav Havel Airport, take a bus or taxi into Prague and then a direct coach to Krumlov. A more comfortable option is a private shuttle right to the hotel door, offered by several local operators – book it in advance.
How do I get there from Vienna or Linz?
From Vienna it's roughly 230 km by car (about 3 hours), and from Linz about 75 km. Private shuttle services also run between Vienna, Linz and Krumlov. By train you'll need to change, usually in Linz and České Budějovice.
Which is the nearest airport?
The nearest international airport is Linz (Austria, about 90 km). Prague (about 2.5 hours by car) and Vienna (about 3 hours) have the most connections.
Can I arrive late in the evening?
Yes, check-in is from 14:30 to 24:00. If you're arriving later, we can arrange self check-in. Please let us know in advance.
Driving in the Czech Republic
Do I need a motorway vignette?
Yes. On Czech motorways (such as the D3 from Prague) you need an electronic motorway vignette. You buy it online on the official website edalnice.gov.cz, and it is linked to your car's registration number. If you're driving through Austria, you'll also need an Austrian vignette.
What are the rules for drivers?
In the Czech Republic you must drive with your headlights on all year round, even during the day, there is zero tolerance for alcohol at the wheel, and the speed limit in built-up areas is usually 50 km/h. Cars aren't allowed into Krumlov's historic centre – but with us you park free of charge right by the house.
Where can I park?
With us. Every room has its own free parking space in our gated grounds by the house, so your space is always guaranteed. You carry your bags only as far as your room, and the pedestrian zone of the historic centre is a 5-minute walk.
Money and payment
What currency is used in the Czech Republic?
The currency is the Czech crown (CZK). Euros are often accepted in Krumlov, but the exchange rate tends to be worse – it's better value to pay by card or in crowns.
How can I pay at the hotel?
After booking we send you an invoice payable by bank transfer. On site you can also pay in cash in crowns or euros, or by card in crowns. City tax is already included in the price when you book direct.
Do people tip in the Czech Republic?
In restaurants a tip of around 10% is customary if you were happy with the service. It isn't compulsory, and it's usually added to the amount when you pay.
Can I pay by card everywhere?
In most restaurants, shops and museums in Krumlov, yes. At markets and in smaller places it's handy to have a little cash in crowns.

Planning your stay
How many days should I spend in Český Krumlov?
One full day is enough for the town and the castle alone, but we recommend at least 2–3 nights. You'll enjoy quiet mornings and evenings without the crowds, canoeing down the Vltava, Kleť, Zlatá Koruna or Lipno – and the pool in the afternoon.
When is the best time to visit?
From May to September it's warm, the castle tours are running and our pool is open. During Advent the town is magical and quieter. During the day the centre is full of day-trippers; Krumlov is at its loveliest in the morning and evening – a real advantage when you're staying just a 5-minute walk away.
Do I need to buy castle tickets in advance?
Tours of the castle interiors usually run from April to October, and in high season it's best to book ahead, especially for the Baroque Theatre. The castle courtyards, tower and museum are open all year round.
Where can I eat if you don't have a restaurant?
We're a hotel garni: we serve breakfast (included with double rooms), and for lunch and dinner there are dozens of restaurants in the historic centre, 5–10 minutes' walk away. The apartments have their own kitchen, and you can borrow a barbecue in the garden.
Is Český Krumlov safe?
Yes, Český Krumlov is a quiet, safe town. Just take the usual precautions, as you would anywhere busy with tourists.
Do I need a visa?
The Czech Republic is part of the Schengen Area. Whether you need a visa depends on your nationality – please check on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic (mzv.cz) or with the Czech embassy or consulate in your country.
