Where to stay in Český Krumlov if you're coming by car

The short answer: if you’re driving to Český Krumlov, choose accommodation with its own parking space right by your room, a short walk from the pedestrian zone. The historic centre is closed to cars and the car parks fill up in season, so knowing you can park at the door will save you the most time and stress.

What to watch out for when choosing where to stay

  • “Parking nearby” doesn’t mean a space at the door. Many guesthouses in the centre point you to the paid municipal car parks – and then you’re wheeling your suitcases hundreds of metres over cobblestones.
  • Parking “on request” or “subject to availability” means there may be no space for you in high season.
  • A hotel right in the pedestrian zone is lovely, but you can’t drive up to it.
  • Accommodation well outside town makes parking easy, but then you have to drive into the centre – and look for somewhere to park all over again.

The ideal combination: guaranteed parking at the door and the centre just a few minutes’ walk away.

How it works here at Hotel Garni Pod Skalkou

  • Park at the house, stress-free. Every room has its own parking space in our gated grounds, so there’s always a space for you – even in summer, at weekends and in Advent.
  • Parking is free for your whole stay.
  • You only carry your luggage to your room, a few steps from the car.
  • The pedestrian zone of the historic centre is a 5-minute walk, and the castle about 12 minutes on foot.
  • The peace of a quiet villa neighbourhood: you stay above the town in a garden with a heated pool (open from May to the end of September).

Leave the car parked for your whole stay and enjoy the town on foot. Simply relaxed and peaceful.

Practical tips for drivers

  1. Set your satnav to our address, Pod Skalkou 536, Český Krumlov – not to the centre.
  2. Don’t drive into the historic centre – only residents and delivery vehicles are allowed in.
  3. Plan day trips in the area (Lipno, Kleť, Zlatá Koruna, Rožmberk) by car in the morning, and get around the centre on foot.
  4. Arriving late? You can check in until midnight and park right by the house.

In short

If you’re driving to Český Krumlov, the best choice is accommodation with a guaranteed parking space by your room and a short walk into the centre. You’ll save time looking for a space, parking fees and lugging suitcases around – and enjoy a relaxed stay from start to finish.
